Congressional Engagement on Capitol Hill
Accelerating Innovation in Medicine recently brought together leaders in science, medicine, pharmaceutical innovation and public policy in Washington, D.C. around the Advancing Botanical Drug Development Act of 2026, H.R. 10150.
Following the bill's introduction in Congress, Robert Houton and Amber Beidler, MSW joined Saad Harti and Geert Cauwenbergh of Legacy Healthcare and Dr. Cassandra Leah Quave of Emory University for a day of congressional engagement on Capitol Hill.
The delegation met with multiple U.S. Senate offices to discuss H.R. 10150, FDA-regulated botanical drug development, the scientific and regulatory landscape surrounding botanical medicines, and barriers facing researchers and companies working to bring new therapies through the federal approval process.
These conversations brought together expertise spanning scientific research, drug development, healthcare, patient needs and federal policy — creating an opportunity for congressional offices to hear directly from individuals working across the botanical drug development ecosystem.
An Evening of Collaboration
Recognizing the Introduction of H.R. 10150
Following a full day of congressional engagement, AIM welcomed stakeholders in Washington for an evening reception recognizing the introduction of the Advancing Botanical Drug Development Act of 2026.
The reception brought together leaders from policy, science, healthcare and industry to continue conversations surrounding botanical drug development, regulatory innovation and opportunities to expand the development of FDA-regulated treatment options.
The evening also provided an opportunity to recognize the collaboration behind H.R. 10150 and the researchers, innovators, policymakers and advocates contributing their expertise to the broader conversation surrounding botanical medicine.
For AIM, the reception represented more than a celebration of a legislative milestone. It reflected AIM's broader mission: creating a place where science, policy, healthcare and innovation can come together to address complex challenges in medicine.
